FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about DFM, quotes, materials, lead times, MOQ, NDA and our processes.
What information do you need to prepare a quote?
Please send your 3D CAD file or 2D drawing, required material and finish, quantity or quantity range, target delivery date, and any critical tolerances or cosmetic surfaces.
If the design is not final, send the latest available version and note the open decisions. Our engineering team will clarify missing information before the quotation is confirmed.
Which CAD and drawing formats can I send?
STEP, STP, IGS and STL files, together with 2D drawings.
If your file is in another format, contact us before sending it.
Which manufacturing process is right for my part?
Maker No.1 supports CNC machining, vacuum casting, 3D printing, sheet metal, surface finishing and assembly. If you are unsure, send the CAD file first; process selection is included in our DFM review, and mixed-process routes can be considered when appropriate.
Do you accept one-off prototypes and low-volume orders?
Yes. Maker No.1 can start from 1 piece and is designed for rapid prototypes and low-volume production.
How quickly can you manufacture my parts?
2 days. The confirmed lead time is provided after DFM and quotation review because geometry, material availability, quantity, finishing, inspection and logistics can all affect the schedule. Please state your target date so we can assess a realistic plan.
What tolerances can you achieve?
For CNC machining, the tolerances can be to ±0.01 mm.
Final tolerances are confirmed feature by feature against part size, geometry, material, process route and inspection method.
What materials and surface finishes are available?
Including aluminum, stainless steel, brass, POM, PC, PMMA, nylon and PEEK. Available finishing routes include anodizing, painting, plating, printing, engraving and crackle finish.
What is included in the free DFM review?
Including wall thickness, deep pockets, internal radii and tool access, tolerance strategy, process fit, material choice, surface finishing and the transition from prototype to low-volume production.
How do you control quality and what inspection can be provided?
Maker No.1 checks quality with suitable equipment, from calipers and gauges to CMM review when needed, followed by visual inspection before shipment.
How do you protect confidential designs and manage communication?
An NDA can be signed before file review, and confidential files should be shared after the agreement.
